Paint Division
As to ensure premium finishes on our premium carpentry, we have opted to develop an in house painting procedure and materials selection, which is included in each and every Zaveta Construction home we produce. Our skilled painters provide all trim and millwork with traditional oil based, hand brushed finishes, with the surfaces being meticulously prepared to minimize imperfections and distortions. A spray gun is used only for drywall primer, which is followed by two hand-rolled finish coats.
Most new homes painted today in any price range start with a 20% dilute of latex wall paint, which is unilaterally sprayed on all sheetrock, millwork, doors and moldings with an airless spray system. While this provides unparalleled speed and efficiency, it equally provides for a best case scenario of poor to mediocre finish presentation. Latex wall paint is not drywall primer and in a diluted form does a horrible job as a base coat for drywall, as well as a devastating job on wood products, as it simply swells and telegraphs the wood grain into a contorted and un-unified surface, rendering the surface with an undesirable orange peel finish. To repair this scenario one must frivolously sand countless hours to restore surface integrity and sanding latex is comparable to sanding chewing gum.
Our painters are what I refer to as real painters, which embrace quality and consistency, using time honored painting techniques. New paint employees must go through a training period and demonstrate they possess the skill levels prior to departing the paint prep status. This discipline provides us with unparalleled finish quality.
